1. What these terms cover
These Subscription Terms explain how paid plans for the KitchensGuardian app work. They are part of our Terms of Service. If anything here conflicts with the Terms of Service, these Subscription Terms apply to subscriptions.
KitchensGuardian, Inc., a Delaware corporation, provides the app. Contact: support@kitchensguardian.com.
KitchensGuardian is sold in the United States and Canada only.
2. Plans
KitchensGuardian is sold as a subscription through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app shows no ads.
An active subscription is needed to use the app, apart from a first scan you can try after you sign up, before you set up a kitchen. There is no free version and no free tier. Without an active subscription, your own or a kitchen owner’s that covers you (section 11), you can create an account, sign in and try that first scan of your kitchen or a receipt, but the app’s other features are not available.
Paid plans:
| Plan | Billing period | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| KitchensGuardian Premium Monthly | Monthly | USD 13.99 | Everything the app does: receipt scanning, fridge and pantry scanning, your pantry and expiry tracking, grocery lists, recipe generation, meal planning, consumption tracking and shared kitchens |
| KitchensGuardian Premium Annual | Yearly | USD 59.99 | Same as monthly |
Those are the United States prices. The exact price in your currency, including any tax, is shown in the App Store or Google Play before you confirm the purchase. If you are in Canada, you see the Canadian price set for your store, which is not a direct conversion of the US price.
Scan limits: paid plans include up to 60 scans a day, and no more than 6 in a minute. These limits protect the service from misuse and are not an allowance we expect you to reach.
3. Free trial
We offer a 7-day free trial on the annual plan. The monthly plan has no trial.
- The trial length and the price you will pay afterwards are shown before you start.
- If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and the store charges you for the first billing period.
- One trial per store account: once per Apple ID, and once per Google account. If you have had a trial before, you will not be offered another.
- Any unused trial time is lost when you buy a subscription.
- During the trial you have the full app. When the trial ends without a subscription, the app’s features stop.
4. How billing works
All subscriptions are sold through Apple App Store (for iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (for Android). We do not process payments ourselves.
- Your payment is charged to the payment method on your Apple ID or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
- We never see your card number, bank details or billing address. Apple or Google tells us only that your subscription is active, which plan it is, and when the current period ends.
- The store issues your receipt. For billing questions, store purchase history is the record.
- A subscription is linked to the store account that bought it and to the KitchensGuardian account that was signed in at the time. It follows your KitchensGuardian account, so signing in on another device of the same platform restores it. Both the iPhone and Android apps have a Restore Purchases option if your subscription does not appear.
- A subscription bought in the App Store cannot be moved to Google Play, or the other way round, because the store holds your purchase. If you switch platform you need a new subscription and should cancel the old one.
- We manage subscriptions through RevenueCat, which checks your purchase with the store. Our Privacy Policy explains what RevenueCat receives.
5. Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price shown when you bought (or the price we last notified you of), unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The store charges your payment method within 24 hours before the new period starts.
6. How to cancel
Cancelling in the app’s own settings is not enough; you need to cancel through the store.
iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Tap KitchensGuardian.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Android:
- Open the Google Play app.
- Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap KitchensGuardian.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the steps.
If you do not see the subscription, you may be signed in to a different Apple ID or Google account than the one that bought it.
Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Deleting your KitchensGuardian account does not cancel the subscription either; cancel it in the store first.
7. What happens when you cancel
- You keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- After that, the app’s features stop, except in a kitchen whose owner’s active plan covers you (section 11). If you own a kitchen, your plan stops covering its members. Your pantry, kitchens and data stay; nothing is deleted because you cancelled, and it is all there again if you re-subscribe.
- You are not charged again.
- You can re-subscribe at any time.
8. Refunds
Because the store took your payment, refunds come from the store, not from us. We cannot refund an App Store or Google Play purchase directly.
- Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the KitchensGuardian charge and request a refund. Apple handles refund requests under its own rules.
- Google Play: go to play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory, find the charge and choose Request a refund, or follow Google’s refund help page. Google handles refund requests under its own rules; purchases within the last 48 hours can usually be refunded through Google directly.
If a store refuses a refund and you believe something went wrong on our side (for example a paid feature never unlocked), email support@kitchensguardian.com and we will look into it and support your request with the store where we can.
Quebec: the Consumer Protection Act gives you rights that these terms do not reduce, including the right to cancel a contract entered into at a distance in the cases the Act sets out. Contact us and we will support your request with the store.
Partial periods are not refunded by us. Local law may give you additional refund rights; nothing here removes them.
9. Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If we do:
- We will tell you through the store and in the app before the change takes effect, with at least the notice period the store requires (normally 30 days).
- Where the store or your country’s law requires it, the new price will apply only if you agree to it. If you do not agree, your subscription ends at the end of the current period.
- Where consent is not required, the new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period, and you can cancel before then at no cost.
Promotional and introductory prices end when the promotion period ends, and the standard price shown at purchase then applies.
10. Changes to plans and features
We may add, change or remove paid features. If we remove a feature that was a material part of your plan during a period you have paid for, contact us. We will support a pro-rated refund request with the store, and where the store will not refund, we will give you an equivalent period of free access instead.
If we stop offering a plan, your current period runs to its end and the plan does not renew.
11. Family and shared kitchens
A subscription belongs to one KitchensGuardian account.
If you own a kitchen and have an active subscription, it also covers that kitchen’s members while they use it, including people you invite. It does not cover kitchens they own, and it does not let them create or own one; for that they need their own plan. When your subscription ends, it stops covering them.
We do not support Apple Family Sharing or the Google Play Family Library.
12. Failed payments and account standing
If the store cannot charge your payment method, the store may retry and may pause or end your subscription. While a subscription is paused, paid features are not available. We do not add our own charges or late fees.
If we close your account for breaking the Terms of Service, your subscription may end without a refund, to the extent the law allows. Cancel it in the store to stop future charges.
13. Taxes
Prices shown in the store include or exclude tax according to your country’s rules and the store’s practice. The store collects and remits applicable taxes.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Subscription Terms. We will post the new version with a new “Last updated” date and notify you in the app or by email for significant changes. Changes do not affect the price or features of the period you have already paid for.
15. Contact
Billing and subscription questions: support@kitchensguardian.com, subject “Subscription”. Please include the email on your KitchensGuardian account and the platform (iPhone or Android). Do not send card details or store receipts with full payment information; the store order number is enough.
